Consequences of Global warming

Author: admin  //  Category: Global Warming

If global warming continues at current levels, ocean temperatures could increase by half a degree by 2050. The aquatic ecosystem would be completely altered.One million plant and animal species could disappear by 2050 (estimate of the journal Nature on 01/08/2004).

The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) provides for the disappearance of 21% to 52% of species. If we do not reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, global temperature, which has already risen by 0.6 degrees over the last century, will increase to a new level.

Even less pessimistic scientists foresee catastrophic events:

* Disappearing glaciers
* Floods
* Heat waves and storms
* Elevation of at least 30 cm of sea level
